Nightwish

Last night a wish came true. I've finally seen >>Nightwish in concert. What makes Nightwish special for me is that I've discovered them totally random while looking for something else on irc. I was hooked to them since that day in 1999.

They played the Opera House in Toronto, starting 9:30, in front of a full house. The crowd was extatic as the band played almost all their hits. They also played Megadeath's Symphony of Destruction; no other covers.. We waited for about half an hour outside because of the security check lineup. I was never before in the Opera House. The sound was an 8, as I couldn't understand the lyrics, they were a bit muffled. The ambiance was great. They have 4 bars, one in the back, 2 in the main area and one upstairs. There was little smoking (due to the ban), and almost no pot. The guys on stage drank and smoke throughout the whole performance. Tarja wasn't drinking. Her voice felt a bit weak, and she had a couple of problems on 2-3 songs. But she is beautifull, and sings great. You can only feel how good she sings when you compare it with the opening act singer who had real voice problems. Tarja also changed clothes 3 times, though I liked best the last outfit; she was almost naked :). I would give her a 7. Marco was absolutelly fantastic. Also liked the drummer, he was looking literally happy. As a whole, the band looked good, just a bit on the tired side. I'll give the band a 9.

There's nothing like seeing a great band up close. We were near the stage, I cound almost touch them. Compare this with seeing ACDC from half a mile away. No matter what and how they sang, seeing somebody in concert is a total experience. Bands should give CDs for free and make their money from concerts, this is how true fans should enjoy their favourites.

Nightwish, Respect !!!
